A「bird with hand on meat」most of the time is one who spends most of her life working on the ground and simply does not fly very well: a PHEASANT, a young bird with a short lifespan, so the entire population is VERY YOUNG. Real pheasants do not eat meat other than some insects, and generally feed on grain (禾 seeds at a stalk tip):

A「bird with a hand on meat」sounds a great deal like euphemisms of a service provider performing a hand job, an assumption confirmed by the fact that real birds do not have hands. A very, very young service provider just starting to learn her trade and hone her skills beginning with HAND JOBS.

Always keep in mind that these glyphs most likely were originally designed by groups of clever old men as vulgar riddles for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that), representing Chinese society many thousands of years ago, but intended NOT as a written or spoken language when created. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system! Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles?
