ENTOMB being more of a Western concept if considering an ordinary corpse that generally speaking were inhumed. In Asia more likely a recently deceased ancestor would be cremated and the ashes inurned, or ENTOMBED, by「attaching to」the family gravestone site, literally by placing the urn inside a stone casing,「handing over to」the spirit world this one, too. Gravesites are visited and cleaned on a fairly regular basis with memorials and worshipping rituals occurring annually, as well as periodically for the next fifty years (or more of course) after each person's death. Panjandrum and high muckamucks were and are still entombed, needless to point out.「Religion that sticks, adheres to person with squeezing grip」as ANCESTOR WORSHIP, inescapable in the Far East due to peer pressure from other living relatives, and simple recognition of one's forebears, of course. Each remembrance and religious service entails paying a fee (the「offering」) to the officiating priests.
Nevertheless, a「display of reciprocating rod head sliding in a squeezing grip」may have been the original concept behind the word ENTOMB, to be BURIED WITHIN, literally speaking to「show, display, reveal, indicate altar for sacrificed meat, religion, to discipline, to demonstrate, exemplify with person rod head and squeezing grip, feeling the flow of fluids pumping, firmly holding while measuring throbbing pulse, ancient unit of measure (approximately an inch, 2.5 cm).」

Always keep in mind that these glyphs most likely were originally designed by groups of clever old men as vulgar riddles for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that), representing Chinese society many thousands of years ago, but intended NOT as a written or spoken language when created. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system! Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is, and often with multiple correct answers to each riddle, the same as is true today. Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? But, have there been necessary rewrites and altered explanations of the original elemental meanings over the centuries?

No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else. This site describes glyph meanings, not people. These glyphs however, describe many and various things, including people, long before there were any notions of becoming politically incorrect. The question to be answered is, should these glyphs continue being used, by anyone, anywhere, for expressing language? (More...)
