Glyphs live forever, it seems, uninhibited in expressing content, fearless of repercussions. Seal script is an older form of writing these glyphs. Some have wondered whether the elements of old seal glyphs would yield a different integrated meaning than those elements in use today, but this concern is unwarranted. As long as the scribes consistently applied the same element in all glyphs in which it was used when simplifying or make revisions, it really does not matter much what shape the element takes. For example, who would think that the lower element in this glyph is pig's nose, or the upper element set represents bamboo, only by looking at the parts?
　Elements suggest the government authority for requiring gonorrhea sufferers to visit the shrine, the local clinic, for treatment by clapping their bone between two flat pieces of wood, with the sticky string that flew out landing on some sort of cloth and forming what appeared quite similar to scripted writing of Chinese glyphs. If so, you can bet that the sages laughed themselves silly with this glyph, and the joke is on anyone today who believes these glyphs「are for pronunciation only with no inherent meanings attached fundamentally」to be memorized as a secret written code. Note that「a hollow quill」would have been easily shaped into a fine bougie, and that brushes were used to write Chinese calligraphy glyphs, and not quills.

Always keep in mind that these glyphs were originally created by groups of bored old men as vulgar riddles and analogies for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that) and represented Chinese society many thousands of years ago, and not as a written or spoken language. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system. Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is! Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? And now, there is a cover-up. No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else.
