As WARP THREADS on a loom, threads were strung LENGTHWISE, hanging VERTICALLY and controlled (「obediently」) by heddles. Right element is「complying, following only in the same actions of the ones who went before you.」While weaving, the threads held VERTICALLY (named the「warp」threads, the origin of the English「warped」) are slightly slack and must conform to (comply, follow, obey) the various shapes of the weave pattern. As one example, every second thread was raised by the foot pedals, the shuttle passed through, and then those threads lowered and all the adjacent threads raised for the shuttle's next pass in the opposite direction (using「foot motion」like「steps」to pull up one set of threads, then the other, forcing the threads to comply and follow along with the foot pedal directions).

Always keep in mind that these glyphs were originally created by groups of clever old men as vulgar riddles and analogies for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that) and represented Chinese society many thousands of years ago, and not as a written or spoken language. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system. Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is! Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? And now, there is a cover-up. No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else.
