以前は、おそらく「手を使って引っ張って直立した姿勢にし、引っ張って伸ばす」という意味でした。この象形文字は、「ラー メン」にも適用されます。ラー メンは、乾燥したインスタント麺ではなく、生地を引っ張ったり伸ばしたりしながら、生地の輪を折り曲げてそのたびに数を倍にし、個ーの生地の糸がスープで煮るのに十分細くなるまで伸ばすことで作られます。

現代の用語では、「ジッパー」や「フェイスリフト」などにもこの字形が使われています。髪の毛を引っ張ったり、引きずったり、伸ばしたりすることは、メスの髪をつかんで洞窟や山賊の隠れ家、海賊船に引きずり出すなど、メスの子ヤギを捕まえることと誘拐することの両方を意味します。「子ヤギを捕まえる」は後に「誘拐する」となり、貴重な若いメスの羊や子ヤギを盗み、それを脇に抱えて逃げ出し、いじることを意味します。
いくつかの資料によると、古い中国語では、この語は「性器から分泌物が出る」（下痢、排便、排尿を含む）という意味でもあり、「立ったまま勃起する」と「手で引っ張って伸ばす」を結び付けている。古典的な「両手で引っ張る」という暗示が、以前は作り出された意味である可能性が高く、現代中国語では「レズビアン、女性同性愛者」という意味にまで広がったが、理由は説明されていないと想像するのは難しくない。
日本語の別の明らかな意味は「足の下で踏みつぶす、ミミズを踏む」です。これは、「器用な手を使って直立する」という文字どおりの構成要素を考えると混乱するようです。しかし、立つ意志も力も残っておらず、ぐにゃぐにゃした麺のように、器用な手を使うことは、ミミズの内臓が一方の端から飛び出すまで絞ることに似ていると理解すれば、そうではありません。そして、誰がそんなことをしたことがないでしょうか？

PULLING, DRAGGING, ELONGATING by the hair also means both ewe kid nabbing and to KIDNAP, as in grabbing a female by the hair and dragging her off to your cave, bandit lair, or pirate ship.「Kid nabbing」that later became「kidnapping」refers to stealing a prized young ewe or kid goat and running off with it under one's arm to screw with it.
　Some sources say that in old Chinese the meaning also is to「discharge from the genitals」(including diarrhea, defecating, and urinating) and coupling「standing erection」with「use one's hands to elongate by pulling」it not difficult to imagine yet another reference to the classic「use of two-handed wanker pull」innuendo as the likely formerly contrived meaning, with a modern extension in Chinese to「lesbian, female homosexual」but for reasons unexplained.
　Another apparent meaning in Japanese is to「crush underfoot, stepping on a worm」which seems confusing when considering the literal elements of「using talented hands to stand erect」but not so if we realize that there is no will or strength remaining to stand, much like a LIMP NOODLE, and using talented hands in that case maybe was likened to SQUEEZING A WORM until its guts spurt out one end—and, who hasn't done that?
