A「person who lingers」might be considered in some sense to be behind, but the opposite meaning as perhaps「one who lingers in thought when others do not」or,「one who can win even after giving others a head start」may apply as well. Elements of「someone snobbish」due to HIGH INTELLIGENCE, GENIUS. Note that the right element of「snobbish」is「stinky copulation with head in crotch」: actually, at the start the idea of dis-integrating the feet bones and binding them into tiny balls to prevent young girls from running off and to address many other issues, the concept was praised as pure genius (see 写)…and these transformed little girls regularly became overly proud and extremely snobbish when purchased by a wealthy owner or the local lord:「person is snob, with odor that lingers」depicts a CHILD PRODIGY, someone really good at plying her trade ('ply' as in to do well, and, to bend over all the way…). Lower element also means「lying prone with spread feet and crotch」but with the ends of the legs (that is, the feet) positioned above or over the head and beside the ears, i.e., elements as「person [who is] fucking asshole.」Note that most crass and scatological references prevalent in the English language today could very well have originated as literal translations of terms brought back to England by upper-class aristocrats, the opium drug pushers expelled from China during past centuries.
「Person who lingers, dawdler loose dripping while copulating with head in crotch」also describes a lover who takes plenty of time, is not in a rush to finish, and with one or both heads in crotch to be sure the female partner is fully satisfied: HANDSOME, PRODIGY, SAGACIOUS, EXCELLENT.
The Taoist sages often ridiculed Buddhism, here suggesting that their manner of sexual release was anal:「person who is fucking an asshole」(or, the sages were simply stating a known fact), and the sages perceived that doing so was SAGACIOUS.
Note that the English word HANDSOME means 'to merit the use of one's hands,' as occurs during a selfie.

Always keep in mind that these glyphs were originally created by groups of bored old men as vulgar riddles and analogies for their own entertainment
(see 籒 for that)
and represented Chinese society many thousands of years ago, and not as a written or spoken language.
If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system.
Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is!
Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? And now, there is a cover-up.
No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else.
This site describes glyph meanings, not people.
These glyphs however, describe many and various things, including people, long before there were any notions of becoming politically incorrect.
The question to be answered is, should these glyphs continue being used, by anyone, anywhere, for expressing language?
Despite how bad the human world is today, do you actually believe that the so-called good old days were any better? Or they could only have been worse?
By the way, with a limited number of the same elements used by the sages again and again to form these glyphs,
you should expect to find the same explanations again and again, as tedious as that may become, and as an inherent trait of any dictionary.
This site explains the dual meanings of glyphs most often ignored by other sources that provide you with only the sanctioned definition, generally.
