Glyph elements  [ Toggle Font ]

Meanings of elements
ORGY, PILED ON with FLATUS, FLATULENCE, FARTING
…or: BUTTOCKS EXCREMENT SQUATTING while COOPERATING, BUDDY SYSTEM WORKING JOINTLY, PILED ONE ON TOP OF ANOTHER, LAYERED and CLENCHED TEETH while STRETCHED TAUT UNDER THE CONTROL OF ANOTHER and SLIDING DOWN of DAMMED FLOW
A「farting orgy」is simply distasteful, and proper etiquette dictates POSTPONING flatulent releases, when possible.「Farting at an orgy」effectively causes immediate SPREADING OUT of participants to OPEN UP breathing space, PROLONGING the activities by causing a POSTPONEMENT…all out defecation needs no explanation.
All species of primate females, including lemurs, lorises, monkeys, apes in estrus (and humans at times, such as during ovulation) still overtly perform the action depicted by these elements: proceptivity (a.k.a. 'come, and get it').「Buttocks layered, one on top of another and cooperating」with「comparison shopping」as SPREADING and EXHIBITING, perhaps for sale or for short-term, single-use as a one-off endeavor, but much more likely as a PROLONGED group activity. Note the older form of this same glyph used「many, many flesh seams」with「buttocks, genitals」for「concubine comparisons」().
Meanings of OPEN UP, to BE EFFECTIVE, and either to POSTPONE exit or to PROLONG a stay. In this case, the shopper's paradise being depicted is likely what today might be referred to as a 'booty-call parade' or 'bootylicious mooning dance' during which a gaggle of folks looking for either courtship or employment bend over and DISPLAY their SPREAD meat while OPENING UP, altogether quite an EFFECTIVE MEANS of attracting attention (try it sometime and see for yourself), not unlike the oldest forms of folk dancing and modern pole dancing establishments. Elements literally depict「buttocks cooperating with multiple upward thrusting and a tangle of people.」Remember that any glyph containing the「buttocks, corpse, genitals」element is likely related in some way to a buttocks, or to a corpse, or to genitalia.

Modern definitions (that generally disregard history) …excluding politically incorrect concepts and other meanings deemed offensive today; may list only pigeonholed definitions, euphemisms, or meaningless mnemonics)
Chinese: to spread out; to open up; to exhibit; to put into effect; to postpone; to prolong; exhibition
Japanese: exhibition, to open, to unfold, to spread out, to unroll, to unwrap, to lay out, to make, to stretch, to widen
Unihan extended: open, unfold; stretch, extend
EDRDG: unfold; expand

Used within names (nanori)

Always keep in mind that these glyphs were originally created by groups of clever old men as vulgar riddles and analogies for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that) and represented Chinese society many thousands of years ago, and not as a written or spoken language. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system. Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is! Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? And now, there is a cover-up. No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else. This site describes glyph meanings, not people. These glyphs however, describe many and various things, including people, long before there were any notions of becoming politically incorrect. The question to be answered is, should these glyphs continue being used, by anyone, anywhere, for expressing language? (More...) Despite how bad the human world is today, do you actually believe that the so-called good old days were any better? Or they could only have been worse?

By the way, with a limited number of the same elements used by the sages again and again to form these glyphs, you should expect to find the same explanations again and again, as tedious as that may become, and as an inherent trait of any dictionary. This site explains the dual meanings of glyphs most often ignored by other sources that provide you with only the sanctioned definition, generally.
