Glyph elements  [ Toggle Font ]

Meanings of elements
emphasis on ROD in ORIFICE, MOUTH with COPULATION, PENILE ERECTION and END-TO-END on BOTH SIDES
…or: ON BOTH SIDES of FACE
Original form of this glyph () used two service providers on each side of「copulation into a tonguing mouth, facialization」that may have required circling motions of the standing client himself MOVING IN A CIRCLE as he rotated between mouths, allowing each worker to catch her breath and the client to make a detailed comparison of respective talents.「Conspicuous copulation on both sides end-to-end」as SOLICITATION, which is still the case today in many jurisdictions.
Note that Chinese meanings also are TO WRAP AND HOLD INSIDE, a POCKET SHAPE containing a wrapped head, perhaps in order to prevent leakage of various sticky fluids, TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR ONE'S CONDITION and doing something to mitigate the bother to others. A head of some sort surrounded and protected on「both sides, pocketed」such as within a set of cheeks, moving from side-to-side and back again.
A head revealing the「countenance」is one head that is HELMETED, PROTECTED WITH A HARD COVER.「Side to side on both sides with copulating into the open tonguing mouth of a face」refers to MOVING IN A CIRCLE, literally being hired after demonstrating the ability to open one's mouth without showing any teeth, i.e., making an open circle with one's lips…a HELMET is simply SOMETHING THAT COVERS A HEAD, such as that open mouth.

Modern definitions (that generally disregard history) …excluding politically incorrect concepts and other meanings deemed offensive today; may list only pigeonholed definitions, euphemisms, or meaningless mnemonics)
Chinese: pocket; bag; to wrap up or hold in a bag; to move in a circle; to canvas or solicit; to take responsibility for; to disclose in detail; combat armor (old)
Japanese: helmet, headpiece
Unihan extended: pouch
EDRDG: helmet; head piece

Always keep in mind that these glyphs were originally created by groups of clever old men as vulgar riddles and analogies for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that) and represented Chinese society many thousands of years ago, and not as a written or spoken language. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system. Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is! Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? And now, there is a cover-up. No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else. This site describes glyph meanings, not people. These glyphs however, describe many and various things, including people, long before there were any notions of becoming politically incorrect. The question to be answered is, should these glyphs continue being used, by anyone, anywhere, for expressing language? (More...) Despite how bad the human world is today, do you actually believe that the so-called good old days were any better? Or they could only have been worse?

By the way, with a limited number of the same elements used by the sages again and again to form these glyphs, you should expect to find the same explanations again and again, as tedious as that may become, and as an inherent trait of any dictionary. This site explains the dual meanings of glyphs most often ignored by other sources that provide you with only the sanctioned definition, generally.
