Given meanings present somewhat confusing images to some Westerners because large bells in Asia do not use internal clappers normally (as are common in the West), but instead are struck from the outside with a beam suspended horizontally by two chains fastened to each end that is swung and rammed forward against the side of the bell to create sound, the loud BONG, DONG. A「person thrusting downward」on a third rope or chain hanging down from that horizontally-hung wooden beam will eventually cause some noise by swinging the beam against the bell. Right element depicts a rope or chain attached front and rear surrounding the woody and scrotum with testicles of captured slaves/prisoners to prevent escape.

Always keep in mind that these glyphs were originally created by groups of bored old men as vulgar riddles and analogies for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that) and represented Chinese society many thousands of years ago, and not as a written or spoken language. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system. Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is! Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? And now, there is a cover-up. No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else.
