Giant clam shells can become rather large and roundish, wheel-like and are hard as are rocks. Yet, giant clams are unable to move after becoming mature, so the right element must refer to some other type of screwing. The species are hermaphrodites, and while self-fertilization has not been observed, each individual can and does fertilize any other individual of the same species, with two clams able to fertilize each other…hence,「plugging orifices and screwing in both directions」may be the elements of this glyph.
　The two sides of a mature giant clam's shell are unable to fully close and seal, hence there is always a channel at the shell seam, forming the image of「two wheels with an orifice for plugging between.」…the inner meat of a clam resembles female genitals with「orifices for plugging.」…the two sides of a mature vulva are normally unable to fully close and seal, hence there is always a channel at the flesh seam revealing the inner meat.

If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system. Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is! Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? And now, there is a cover-up. No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else.
