Marker element indicates the portion of a glyph being referred to, which in this case is the BLOOD in「netting laid on a tray.」Netting was used to hold poultices in place and wrapped around diseased genitalia as infected meat with a heated, burning-sensation and running liquids, but has now been spread upon a tray in order to be inspected and was often BLOODY (an English word used to describe the intensiveness, intensity of something). GORE as a bloody pool or mess, and TO BE GORED refer to the netting laid out while the meatus was gored by a bougie reaming the urethra in multiple sessions as part of the treatment for a gonorrheal infection as a DESPERATE STRUGGLE, in addition to generating a bloody horn of some sort. BLOODY PHLEGM is none other than mucus mixed with blood. CONSANGUINITY is a fancy word meaning to be related by blood to someone else, rather than a legal relationship in law, due to marriage, adoption, ownership or purchase of a slave or a the result of some bartered transaction perhaps [during the old days].

Always keep in mind that these glyphs were originally created by groups of clever old men as vulgar riddles and analogies for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that) and represented Chinese society many thousands of years ago, and not as a written or spoken language.
