Meaning EPIDEMIC:「flow from person in quarantine, forced isolation into netting and poultice in tray」deposited there for an examination, meaning to REVIEW and then to REVISE treatment based upon the results. WARM perhaps was the associated fever. Modern replacement is「flow」with「tongue in mouth, say」and「netting in plate」describing the flow of people talking about the spread of sexually transmitted disease, evidenced by the poultices and nettings in trays removed from infected people. Diseases flowing from person to person also were spread by engaging in oral sex with an infected body part. Refers to TEMPERATURE, approximately that of the human body, measured by a medical practitioner of an infected person to determine feverish conditions, likely sensed in the 'old days' by placing fingers under the「tongue in mouth.」Note that this glyph does not refer to water or food brought to a prisoner as some have suggested…back then in the good ol' days, nobody cared about prisoners, let alone the temperature of food brought to prisoners.

Always keep in mind that these glyphs were originally created by groups of bored old men as vulgar riddles and analogies for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that) and represented Chinese society many thousands of years ago, and not as a written or spoken language. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system. Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is! Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? And now, there is a cover-up. No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else.
