Some external sources explain this glyph refers to「a device for snaring flying birds by attaching a long stringy net to an arrow and discharging」that physics would dictate could not fly very high off the ground. While that is not outside the realm of possibility, it strongly suggests that more than one such archer be cooperating with precision, else how can one explain the method for opening the net, a serious complication that further diminishes the probability of success as a snaring method, and believability. Nonetheless, while dubious at best, this image does strike uncanny resemblance to the euphemistic explanation of trapping 'bird' (the human male penis, accustomed to「flipping」birds, as it were) in a net containing medicinal poultices for treating infections and disease pathogens, A METHOD FOR SNARING BIRDS having long sticky stringy threads attached to a tapered shaft used for penetrating flesh seams and discharging death….
　Other sources describe this glyph as representing a short WOODEN STAKE used for anchoring into soil, having one end tapered and placed into service only by repeated pounding into soil of some sort, or into flesh and flesh seams; or a DIRK (likely the source of the term 'dick' as it refers to a human penis, only mispronounced).
　In the old days, a PILING was a「shaft of tapered wood」driven into soil. Elements of「one side lower」or「repeatedly bobbing head」with「penis」(㇂variant of 乚) with an emphasis marker stroke added to denote where the pounding occurs.
　Meaning WILD DOG as the animal in an undomesticated, natural state (glyph contains no「taut, leash」element) CRUISING and SHOOTING one's dart or arrow, SPEARING PENETRATION of other human weaponry such as a dart, dirk, arrow, or tapered baculum (see 戊).
　Note that for the species Canis lupus familiaris, the female is called a「bitch」and male a「dog」although the term dog is used today for both sexes, similar to 'cow' as it refers to all cattle, even though not technically correct (male 'cows' are bulls, as we all know but sometimes forget).「Cruising」is the dog using its sense of smell searching for bitches in heat, or estrus, releasing pheromones from the genitalia to attract dogs with which to copulate.

　It is not difficult to extend the concept of a dog hunting for a bitch in heat, poking its nose as it sniffs for hormones and thrusting a spear-shaped, baculum-equipped penis every which way and into every possible orifice seeking to spawn with any willing bitch (not so unlike humans, generally), to the MILITARY use of SWORDS, SPEARS and LANCES of a male animal poking every which way, into every possible conquered people seeking to spawn in any orifice, and particularly favoring those filled with night soil.
　English epithet「dick dog」is redundant when referring to a male human, although it often does capture the intentions of his heart. A misnomer in literal biological terms, since human beings have no baculum or 'os penis,' but figuratively and euphemistically speaking—right on point. Usage as a STAKE relates to the shape of the dog baculum, a bone no longer present in human males.
