「Fire with leisure, tranquility, and peaceful sex」or what to have before the meal, the「gateway to meat」(that is, not while eating cooked rice in Japan) being WARMED ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES. sake in Japanese means 'alcohol' —what most non-Japanese refer to as sake, the Japanese call nihonshu, literally meaning「Japanese alcohol」that is enjoyed chilled as well as warmed, and literally set alight and flaming as hirezake that tends to keep one's protruding nasal hairs in check, not to mention a mustache. Once a person begins eating rice, the traditional custom is that no more alcohol should be served or drunk, only tea (serving cooked rice is therefore a polite way of giving notice to guests that the drinking of alcohol should stop, at least for a while).

Always keep in mind that these glyphs were originally created by groups of clever old men as vulgar riddles and analogies for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that) and represented Chinese society many thousands of years ago, and not as a written or spoken language.
