Suggesting that「hands of the king」that can only MEDDLE, MESS AROUND, PLAY WITH, TRIFLE WITH, GROPE AT OTHERS, INSERT FINGERS INTO ORIFICES, TAMPER WITH matters, or PLAY with himself. Another Chinese meaning is「back alley」suggesting that the「king sits on his thumb fingering his own back alley」much of the time. Perhaps the source of the English expression,「sitting around with your thumb up your ass」with nothing to do as may have been typical of dynastic Chinese kings, other than perhaps the「king with hand on rod」naturally.

Always keep in mind that these glyphs most likely were originally designed by groups of clever old men as vulgar riddles for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that), representing Chinese society many thousands of years ago, but intended NOT as a written or spoken language when created. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system! Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles?
