Blobs and emissions caused by various illnesses emit an individually distinctive stink that can be used to identify and classify the sickness. Dogs keenly smell and can sense the presence of cancer growths, for example.
　Sources say the original glyph no longer in use was「sticky wad」with「head facing downward」(頪) that represented things massed together into a ball, which required some degree of concentration and close inspection in order to distinguish one individual or item in the wad apart from the others. Meaning to IDENTIFY BY KIND, SPECIES, to perform a CLASSIFICATION BY SIMILARITY, such as work the shaman was forced to perform when preparing her billing data the day after a clusterfuck.
　「Dog」was added as the lower-left element, although it may be「big, hands spread」as used in most modern fonts with an emphasis marker, indicating that both hands were SIMILAR IN APPEARANCE, the SAME KIND, or that all the participants were of the same sex.
　Perhaps indicates that a dog can sense by sniffing「puckered orifice (the anus) with head downward」to distinguish and locate other animals including people, sometimes many years after last contact. Dogs are clearly excellent sniffers and can famously identify individual humans and other animals by smelling a puckered orifice, or with head down and tracking along a trail, much better than by some other physical sense. With this information, the animal can then track the SAME KIND of scent.

Always keep in mind that these glyphs were originally created by groups of clever old men as vulgar riddles and analogies for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that) and represented Chinese society many thousands of years ago, and not as a written or spoken language. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system. Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is! Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? And now, there is a cover-up. No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else. This site describes glyph meanings, not people. These glyphs however, describe many and various things, including people, long before there were any notions of becoming politically incorrect.
