Vultures need one another in order to be able to eat a carcass. Different vulture species have differing skill sets that when applied in sequence to a rotting corpse, all the birds feed much better: vultures have learned to cooperate and wait while the other species feed and as a result cause the carcass to be more readily devoured by the waiting birds. A cycle of access repeats among vultures.
