「Two hands wide apart in a display」or「two hands」above「the sacrificial meat altar, one's religion」indicating STANDING and ENDURING, BEARING UP possibly in prayer after learning there is NO CURE, that is to say it will never change no matter what, be it an illness, some physical or mental condition, or simply being big on organized religion. A posture using gestures of asking HOW? WHAT? by raising both hands palms upward. Note that the sages knew it may require a very long time before any supernatural beings answer a prayer, if at all (why is that, do you suppose?), hence this LONG WAIT requires ENDURANCE, TOLERATION.
　Significantly, the original form of this glyph included a「woody」element (㮈) as well.「Two hands wide and displayed」suggests neither hand being in use at the moment, indicating STANDING and ENDURING, BEARING UP, holding off any urges while otherwise idle. Note that in Chinese, this glyph combined with one's own two hands refers to the「bent penis」element, the downwards-right concave character stroke 乚 that often entails the「talented use of one's hands to accomplish a task with endurance, doing something for which there is no cure possible (i.e., this will never change)」as whatever pertains to or involves a woody.
　See the related glyph (柰) for its meaning of covered with small, red bumps or spots that are difficult to endure or bear that refer to herpetic lesions or chancres euphemistically resembling crabapples, and provided a good reason to start praying to the gods:「difficult to be rid of, cannot get away from」and both the herpes virus and the pox did stay with a person for the remainder of life, having NO CURE. Crabapples remain tart difficult to endure even after fully ripening, hence there is NO CURE for that sourness naturally. Asking WHAT CAN BE DONE? rhetorically wondering HOW CAN I BE HELPED? now that disease has caused infection.

Always keep in mind that these glyphs were originally created by groups of clever old men as vulgar riddles and analogies for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that) and represented Chinese society many thousands of years ago, and not as a written or spoken language. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system. Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is! Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? And now, there is a cover-up. No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else.
