　While some ancient sites did have high walls and gates surrounding the entire city, relatively speaking those places were few in number. Not only were such high walls a great expense, walls also tend to impose limits upon growth, and eventually could lead to starvation of the inhabitants during a prolonged siege. 　A GATEWAY, a guarded point of entrance into a walled, closed, restricted area (see 閡): gates and gateways without surrounding walls and some armed guards are meaningless, as any burglar can attest.「Inside array of buttocks, on both sides」to depict the entrance to the brothel zone where conflicts and disputes were common between potential clients and inspectors, but also among jealous service providers. Not coincidentally employing the same elements as two「door」glyphs but in a slightly different arrangement. Or「rod, stream with tonguing mouths」as KNACK, a PARTICULAR ABILITY especially one difficult to explain or teach that must be learned by doing oneself, INGENIOUS, RESOURCEFUL, HIGHLY TRAINED by a skilled master-craftswoman.
　The gates were also used as CHECKPOINTS and INSPECTION STATIONS staffed by government administrators during severe outbreaks of infectious disease and of course to collect excise taxes, bribes, and various fees, verifying that the「much meat」entering this particular brothel zone and prostitution quarter within surrounding low walls was sufficiently healthy to enable participation in religious rites, being temporarily sent to heaven.
　Perhaps multiple「meat, female friends」side by side (朋) acting as a door or depicting what is inside the gate,「much meat.」As depicted in the glyph, one can imagine that the gate is open and the inner leg of each person is not visible, a set of two「mooning positions」that one must pass by in order to enter and join a particular group among the fray within one section of shaman town, the quarter with temples of love and shrines full of divine service providers, or as temptation not to depart quite yet. This identical business practice is still extant today, although somewhat less overt (sometimes), using sexy female models to sell everything and anything by first attracting attention using both the male and female human being's innate desire for sex.
　It is important to note that GATES can be used to keep people in, prevent them from escaping, and remain held against their will to depart just as much as gates can be used to keep others out and prevent entry. The shaman's service providers had dis-integrated feet to prevent their escape, and the fundamental elements of each of the two「meat」glyphs (⺼) are congealing dis-integrated feet (习), which should come as no surprise.
　「Most people call the whole kit and caboodle between a woman's legs the 'vagina' but the compendium of visible outer parts is technically the 'vulva.' Meant to keep dirt and bacteria out while providing a welcoming environment for worthy partygoers, the vulva is like a VIP lounge where the clitoris is the DJ. Note that in the Orient, most gates to a home, or of a castle, temple, shrine, or other such institution are thick, heavy, solid panels and not half-sized, flimsy saloon doors…these「gates」are not large, rectangular, hinged, top-to-bottom panels, as the glyphs which include this element clearly indicate, in addition to the strokes of the glyph itself.
