The「immovable」part made of「wood」here is the HANDLE, GRIP, HILT (of a spear, pestle, crank, dildo, etc.), meaning that the hand should not slip from holding in that location, or, the hand holds firmly the「wood arrayed and inserted in spread legs」and it cannot be moved by an external force without the consent of the holder. BUILD, PHYSIQUE may derive from the way a handle could be shaped and formed to fit an individual's hand shape and build for best performance and a non-slip grip, or the manner in which this device resembled a phallic-shaped physique. Later extended to mean MUSHROOM STALKS, also a bit woody at times, but useful as a HANDLE while eating the mushroom cap raw, and may refer to the fact that mushrooms most often grow atop old tree stumps or roots, wood rotting in the soil, or fecal material deposited by animals as「wood that is immovable.」Another interpretation is「wood inside widely spread legs and person holding onto a pole」added to the obvious meanings of a「mushroom stalk」and「physique」may well be simply a DILDO, a dog's woody「spear with a handle.」Obviously,「woody stalk horizontally inserted in spread legs」would cause only the HANDLE to remain visible.

Always keep in mind that these glyphs most likely were originally designed by groups of clever old men as vulgar riddles for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that), representing Chinese society many thousands of years ago, but intended NOT as a written or spoken language when created. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system! Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is, and often with multiple correct answers to each riddle, the same as is true today. Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? But, have there been necessary rewrites and altered explanations of the original elemental meanings over the centuries?

No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else. This site describes glyph meanings, not people. These glyphs however, describe many and various things, including people, long before there were any notions of becoming politically incorrect.
