「Loose, amorphous shape, potentially odoriferous」with「drip」on an edge is used in simplified glyphs to replace「dull yellow pus」(黃) which underscores its meaning: refers to a body part with the bandages and poultice removed that is infected and rather putrid, UNBOUND, FESTERING and STINKY, LOOSE AND DRIPPING such as a meatus that is usually kept wrapped, concealed, hidden from others, or the unbound no-longer-integrated and busted up feet of a concubine. Both create a CLOUD of STENCH in areas enveloped by the odor that follows infected flesh. Internal flesh wounds from dis-integrating feet bones and then wrapping the feet with extreme tightness can cause gangrene. Meanings that extent from these two combined elements and seen today are: something that anyone would with to keep PRIVATE, keep a SECRET, keep to MYSELF, something stinky and bent (...and possibly with dripping, remember...), the SHORT LEG, the THIRD LEG (in ancient China, corresponding to the "short arm" of U.S. military slang).

In the era prior to antibiotics, contracting a sexually transmitted disease was a virtual death sentence, or at least assurance that one's remaining life would be torture in most cases. Scarring from sexually transmitted diseases can cause both a shortened and bent penis, a SHORT LEG. Gonorrhea and other such diseases cause scar tissue to form within the urethra:

A「bougie」is a long, thin blade that is inserted into the urethra via the penile meatus that is used to thinly shave slices of scarred meat from within the passageway in order to remove scar tissue blockage formed due to gonorrhea and thereby restore the flow of fluids, be they urine, semen, gleet, blood, or all of the above.
