Fonts variously display the right element as「snake, penis merging with orifice」or as「myself, unwrapped, decrepit condition of a penis」after either removing a poultice and loincloth or skinning back one's prepuce, or both. 　Scholarly sources explain elements as「run from snake」but note that running from a snake is ridiculous, since one only needs to step back a pace or two in order to avoid being bitten, something the snake is also highly unlikely to do anyway unless it is stepped upon. Other than very large, non-venomous constrictor snakes move rather slowly so as not to startle their prey, and larger humans are not on a snake's menu. The animal may strike only to defend itself from a perceived threat by a human. Furthermore, how can anyone「run from myself」(the literal elements, per some scholars)? that's trying to flee from your own shadow, an aroused dog or cat chasing its own tail.
