Original glyph included「reaming」with these elements (劃). Since virtually all the population in the old days was illiterate, it did no good to publish written laws. But DRAWING A PICTURE of the problem to GRAPHICALLY ILLUSTRATE the issue, and including MAPS with notations of places off limits by law, posting copies (描) outside (裱) in many places that could be SEEN PUBLICLY DURING THE DAYLIGHT HOURS could be understood by anyone without much excuse:「the consequences, firm grip with bougie reaming blocked orifice array, again and again.」Additional depictions of the symptoms with「blocked orifices」or「reaming pig noses and pricks」may have aided comprehension as well. Red-lining on a map to indicate areas and lines as DO NOT ENTER.

Always keep in mind that these glyphs were originally created by groups of bored old men as vulgar riddles and analogies for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that) and represented Chinese society many thousands of years ago, and not as a written or spoken language. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system. Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles?
