Some have suggested perhaps「grain plants scant and desired」means SPARSE and WATERY since a large portion of the surface of the rice paddy is visible for some unstated reason, and not filled with green rice shafts that would normally block viewing any water other than at the edges. More likely though, DILUTED may be closely related to the meaning of「seeds at tip of stalk are scant and still desired, never enough to satisfy the demand」and have become SPARSE and WATERY due to many ejaculations occurring within a brief period…not having much to do with grain plants, but perhaps something to do with RARE, red and raw meat. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system. Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles?
