「Hairy animal that spurts」is perhaps the Chinese pangolin. A mammal covered with keratin scales, the same material as hair:

　…this incredible tongue in a mouth naturally having no teeth was the envy of clients with regard to his service provider「animal for spurting.」Pangolins also curl into a ball when threatened, not unlike a no-longer-integrated foot.「Animal for spurting」also accounts for the poaching of PANGOLINS as remedies for erectile dysfunction and as an aphrodisiac as used (erroneously perhaps) in traditional Chinese medicine and folklore that may mistake the stinking spurts of an infected human male with the defensive spurts from glands in the anal region of the other animal.
　If truly meaning ARMADILLO, then this glyph was created recently, since armadillos are a New World animal and not indigenous to China. Moreover, PANGOLINS and ARMADILLOS are no longer considered to be of the same genetic family.「Animal nine, or animal spurting」may refer to the nine-banded armadillo, or the fact that when surprised, armadillos jump straight up vertically as if they are themselves a spurt from the ground, or, soon begin spurting after colliding with the front bumper or undercarriage of a vehicle passing at 85 miles per hour on a Texas highway. Armadillos are excellent diggers, and appear to spurt dirt from the rectum between hind legs while searching for worms and grubs as food. Armadillos are one of the few animal species that transmit leprosy, a disease that primarily affects the upper respiratory tract (skin lesions are only one symptom) causing sufferers to「spurt mucus in gushing chunks」quite a bit. Do not touch or eat an armadillo, particularly its feet between the toes…as a general rule, leave armadillo roadkill for the coyotes (unless famine conditions are dire, naturally).
