Glyph elements  [ Toggle Font ]

Meanings of elements
CONTAINED ORIFICE with ROD VERTICAL
…or: CANNOT, UNABLE TO DO, IMPROBABLE with VERTICAL ROD
…or: VAGINA with ONE, ROD inside SPREAD LEGS
…or: ORIFICE inside ENCLOSURE
…or: CONCENTRIC RINGS
「Improbable, cannot do with vertical rod」plainly states something that male「rods are unable」to perform: MULTIPLE TIMES again and again, at least not without first resting during a refractory period…orifices of any sex, on the other hand, can. Needless to point out, but vertical rods also make lousy conveyance devices.
Pundits say formerly perhaps both shapes were drawn more roundish, and could simply have depicted a wheel turning on an axle…but, why would anyone in imperial China care to count the rotations of a wheel, an incredibly insignificant and ubiquitous action? note that the source glyph (囘) was unrelated to wheeled carts, and included「snake, myself」「penis in orifice」「spiralling vortex」within「spread legs」and meant the same thing as this glyph, namely: exactly HOW MANY TIMES did that occur? taking turns most likely with the herd assets of a lord, from one sexual partner to the next, or in bonobo-style, orgiastic melees, clusters of folks, gang-raping (see 迴 and 廻) a ewe or human, and so on, including the shaman's COUNT of her sex slave properties providing billable services.「Penned-in, enclosure of orifice」is something or someplace that one cannot escape easily, such as when both feet have been no-longer-integrated and pulverized, and permits stuff such as a「contained orifice with vertical rod」MULTIPLE TIMES, RETURN, GO BACK AGAIN, and so on: a SEX SLAVE, with the same connotations as 囘,「snake inside spread legs.」
ANNULUS is the area between two concentric circles, a ring-shaped object such as a COCKRING that also enables one to perform MULTIPLE TIMES, RETURN, GO BACK and DO IT AGAIN and mitigates somewhat the condition described by the elements as「improbable with vertical rod」when placed into service without this tool, enabling「rod within spread legs with orifice, array of vagina」in MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES.

External source definitions …excluding politically incorrect concepts and other meanings deemed offensive today; may include extended definitions, euphemisms, and mnemonics)

Always keep in mind that these glyphs most likely were originally designed by groups of clever old men as vulgar riddles for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that), representing Chinese society many thousands of years ago, but intended NOT as a written or spoken language when created. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system! Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is, and often with multiple correct answers to each riddle, the same as is true today. Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? But, have there been necessary rewrites and altered explanations of the original elemental meanings over the centuries?

No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else. This site describes glyph meanings, not people. These glyphs however, describe many and various things, including people, long before there were any notions of becoming politically incorrect. The question to be answered is, should these glyphs continue being used, by anyone, anywhere, for expressing language? (More...) Despite how seemingly bad our human existence is today, do you actually believe that the so-called good old days were any better? Or could they have been worse?

By the way, with a limited number of the same elements used by the sages again and again to form these glyphs, you should expect to find the same explanations again and again, as tedious as that may become, and as an inherent trait of any lexicon. This site explains multiple meanings of glyphs ignored or censored by other sources, generally as being too embarrassing to admit today.
