Seems that 闇 as the「gateway to swollen erection with tonguing mouth」was the original form, but simplified to「tonguing mouth」with「defiant unruly biting sex slave.」As an「array of mutes」the elements make good sense describing a line of service providers who have been instructed not to talk with a full mouth or with meat in one's mouth so that the clients will not become impatient, simply as proper manners, or because they are literally mutes, having been punished as biting fellatrices.
Both「tonguing mouth of biting fellatrix」and a client visiting the fellatio brothels might fit the elements to mean COVERT, SECRET, CONCEALED, DARKENED, SHADY and attempting TO FOOL or DECEIVE, in SHADOW, ECLIPSED, MUDDLED, STUPID better than would「sun with swollen tongue in mouth」or「day sound.」Elements literally may also be「sun sounds」and in fact the surface of the Sun is extremely noisy as a result of the nuclear fission occurring constantly, but it is a wonder if or how the ancients knew this fact, since sound waves within the range of human hearing do not travel well through the solar system (fortunately)…those「sun sounds」are OBSCURED, but any reference to sound or the Sun makes little sense with the DARK and SHADY meanings, nor will「speaking sounds」fit the given meanings too well in most cases.「Rod in orifice of sobbing child(ren)」needs no explanation.

Always keep in mind that these glyphs most likely were originally designed by groups of clever old men as vulgar riddles for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that), representing Chinese society many thousands of years ago, but intended NOT as a written or spoken language when created. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system! Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is, and often with multiple correct answers to each riddle, the same as is true today. Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? But, have there been necessary rewrites and altered explanations of the original elemental meanings over the centuries?

No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else. This site describes glyph meanings, not people. These glyphs however, describe many and various things, including people, long before there were any notions of becoming politically incorrect. The question to be answered is, should these glyphs continue being used, by anyone, anywhere, for expressing language? (More...)
