Outer hull, skin, pellicle, cuticle that covers a new bamboo shoot, normally a thick skin of leaves in layers that consists of dead vegetative matter, not unlike some no-longer-integrated feet having a case of gangrene wrapped in many layers of BINDING CLOTHS that had the same basic texture as the CUTICLE OF A BAMBOO SHOOT. The pellicle is removed prior to use or consumption, and resembles layers and layers of foot-binding cloths that have been cut with scissors or a knife. Uncovering the hidden shoots after locating the tips by using feet to flick away surrounding dirt prior to stooping down and digging out the bamboo shoot,「weaken」the plant roots by「lessening」the soil. Perhaps using the CUTICLE OF A BAMBOO SHOOT to scrape and clean the biggest chunks from off one's no-longer-integrated feet after the client departs to pay his bill.
