Meanings of elements

Center element also means「soft skin in the loin regions」and here with the added meaning of a softened, loose rectum about to release, in this glyph with the lower「foot」replaced by「down from spread legs, the act of excreting」as might be expected due to the anticipation of great pain and anxious fear. Defecating when in fear is symptomatic of needing PROTECTION, PROTECTIVE MEASURES, a DEFENSE. Needless to say, while in the act of defecating most folks are vulnerable to attack and in need of a DEFENSE against hungry carnivores, enemy soldiers, or a lone rabid squirrel lurking in the woods that may mistake testicles for nuts. The image is perhaps PALACE GUARDS escorting a princess or concubine with soft loins.「Going to dump」is a description of practices that are HEALTHY and SANITARY since the hole may then be backfilled a bit to cover the feces. These healthy practices were PROTECTIVE MEASURES, a DEFENSE that GUARDED against the spread of disease, and kept the flies at bay somewhat. Also refers to a TORPEDO, and recall that the first torpedoes were dropped aloft from aeroplanes and not self-propelled, not guided by heat-seeking sensors, nor launched from submarines.

Always keep in mind that these glyphs most likely were originally designed by groups of clever old men as vulgar riddles for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that), representing Chinese society many thousands of years ago, but intended NOT as a written or spoken language when created. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system! Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is, and often with multiple correct answers to each riddle, the same as is true today. Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? But, have there been necessary rewrites and altered explanations of the original elemental meanings over the centuries?

These glyphs however, describe many and various things, including people, long before there were any notions of becoming politically incorrect.
