「Respectable wood」refers to any kind of system used to STRAIGHTEN BENT WOOD of various sorts,「forcing of negligent carelessness with wood.」Presumably, lampstands needed to be straight or they would easily tip over and cause conflagrations. Arrows (矢) and bows (弓) are useless if bent incorrectly, and were necessary and valuable to always maintain in top functioning condition of STIFFNESS, STRAIGHTNESS, ERECT to be ready at a moment's notice for discharge in case of an emergency, hence were treated「respectably.」It may well be that the bows were kept in or near palace lampstands, since a lighted area would make arrows and bows easier to locate quickly. Most of the lamps were not electrically powered, that is, lamps were flaming, on fire burning objects as were some arrows.
　Nonetheless, more likely this glyph was also associated with the ACUTE BURNING SENSATION at the tip when attempting to straighten one's woody dirk by reaming with a bougie. A「respectable woody」: in fact, no elements for archery bows, arrows, or lampstands are included, but as「a woody forced by seduction」and「forcing a negligent careless woody」these elements also intimate STIFFNESS, STRAIGHTNESS, ERECT. Adding some sort of system in an attempt to physically straighten a bent woody is mentioned in other glyphs (such as 㠱, 簸, 簱, and 箕), although today the medical community no longer employs this age-old but useless practice. A「straight woody」indicates that no history of infection or disease is likely (hence,「respectable」). A bent woody indicates the opposite and raises some cause for possible concern. In the era prior to antibiotics, contracting a sexually transmitted disease was a virtual death sentence, or at least assurance that one's remaining life would be torture in most cases. Scarring from sexually transmitted diseases can cause both a shortened and bent penis, known colloquially as a shortened or a short leg (厶).
