See 具 and 貝 for the simplified versions of this glyph, and 鼎 for the older variant: a WIDE ORIFICE THREE-LEGGED formed by merging「clitoris and spread legs in reciprocating vertical motion」with inner elements that vary by font,「sex slave array」or「copulating male」as a CAULDRON, FLESHPOT. Hollow legs of the vessel at times were partially filled with water, so that when the pot was placed in and above coals, the meat juices and melting fat would percolate and seethe out of the hollow shaft, cooking foods with steamy heat.「Hollow leg」in English still refers to someone who can eat and drink a great deal of flesh and alcohol. This glyph is teeming with euphemisms of sex-related body parts, a person's「meat.」A「steamy fleshpot」is itself a euphemism of sexual debauchery, decadence, and physical or sensual gratification. Meaning IMPEDIMENT, since the progress, physically or morally, of most folks will indeed become impeded by either no food, or fleshpots of sexual debauchery, decadence, and physical or sensual gratification. It's wired into human and all other DNA…to continue the species. Elements are「the bean, clitoris」or「orifice wide」over「spread legs」with「copulating rod down」or in the oldest fonts「sex slave array」or「spurting vertical motions」to form the three legs of the fleshpot. The fleshpot became a focus of both 'dreams, daydreaming, sexual fantasizing' (see that glyph for an explanation) and of everyone's staring and hungry 'eyes' at suppertime in the cavern, and perhaps eyes staring while the cauldron was being used for debauchery (related glyphs depict these meanings).

Always keep in mind that these glyphs were originally created by groups of bored old men as vulgar riddles and analogies for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that) and represented Chinese society many thousands of years ago, and not as a written or spoken language. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system. Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is! Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? And now, there is a cover-up. No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else.
