Meanings all relate to clothing worn, or cloth dressings applied, that covers, wraps, acts as does a sleeve to contain a limb or an appendage that is wet, dripping, exuding fluids, and/or swathed in herbs and medicinal treatments, such as might be the case with a patient suffering from gonorrhea or other sexually transmitted disease…the reference to a「book cover being saturated」suggests that the inner 'book' is destroyed, but more likely refers to that book being 本: 「short segment arrayed on the central shaft of wood, woody.」See that glyph for details as to why a central shaft of wood formerly meant book, scroll, wood shaft contained within a skin covering. Formerly books were not at all similar to what we see today, but instead were sheets of vellum or parchment (both made from skins) wrapped around a long, stiff central shaft of wood, the woody. The first「books」were all about sex (as is the oldest known book still extant, Tale(s) of Genji), and many still are. Also noteworthy is the fact that the novel was written entirely in hiragana, without any kanji, by a woman (one thousand years ago, women were not entitled to be educated sufficiently to write using the coded glyphs from China).「Wail, lament, sorrow grief, pathetic and penis within two orifices, sex holes」suggests a seriously ill woody-penis. A penile sleeve used as a medical dressing has two orifices, one on each end, generally, into which the penis and herbs were inserted.
　Some members have pointed out that these elements may as well apply to foot binding cloths used by the「goods, the merchandise」of the shaman, although not exactly a sleeve before wrapping, but appearing so afterwards.

Always keep in mind that these glyphs were originally created by groups of clever old men as vulgar riddles and analogies for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that) and represented Chinese society many thousands of years ago, and not as a written or spoken language. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system. Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is! Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? And now, there is a cover-up. No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else. This site describes glyph meanings, not people. These glyphs however, describe many and various things, including people, long before there were any notions of becoming politically incorrect.
