A「person」with「emphasis on woody shaft」during the performance of a short leg inspection (such as, prior to admittance through a gateway 門) will reveal the CONDITION, STATUS, and determine the FORM, APPEARANCE of one's prized possession in the old days, the main shaft.「Array of dormant persons with woody」are those awaiting inspection, or those rejected after failing.
Old form of this glyph was「meat bones in abundance, meat bone morally abhorrent for the bean」(體) leaving no doubt about the original intended meaning. Meaning is similar to「meat all the same, meat arrayed for vagina」(胴) concerned with CONDITION, STATUS, the FORM or APPEARANCE.
「Resting, idle time」and marker on shaft, a male with extra time on his hands (see 軆) needs no further explanation.
Used as the COUNTER FOR IMAGES…illustrations for the illiterate posted at the gateway to the red-lined district, perhaps graphically depicting various CONDITIONS, STATUS, the FORM, APPEARANCE of illnesses and a SYSTEMATIC method of both detection and instruction:「person with emphasis marker on shaft of woody.」

Always keep in mind that these glyphs were originally created by groups of clever old men as vulgar riddles and analogies for their own entertainment
(see 籒 for that)
and represented Chinese society many thousands of years ago, and not as a written or spoken language.
If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system.
Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is!
Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? And now, there is a cover-up.
No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else.
