「Twisting, rotating, screwing」and「unstable, lofty, stupid, tipsy, copulating alone.」…or, also appears to be「copulating」with「soil, night soil feces」representing the shape, rapid emergence, and position in the soil of a MUSHROOM, and perhaps the aroma of raw mushrooms, too. Many mushroom varieties grow only on feces, such as cow pies.「Night soil with amputated feet」also describes slicing off the bottom of a mushroom prior to cooking or eating, since not too many folks enjoy ingesting feces with their mushroom stems. All the analogies of rapid swelling and growth overnight, sudden spore dispersion, spreading caps, long spongy stems emerging from soil and so on that relate mushrooms to human penile erections need no further explanation, most likely.
　As an element within other glyphs or as depicted with various fonts, this element may be drawn as「soil」over「emit」and MUSHROOMS do seem to「split the soil」with rapid growth overnight at times.「Copulating in night soil」as GROUND-BREAKING techniques that can only be related to ANAL SEX (see the many Used-In glyphs) that the wise old sages may have been suggesting are stupid, unstable, tipsy, and lonely, yet the common folk believe are lofty, approaching heaven, divine.
　Some sources claim the top is a single「plant」element merged with「top-heavy」(兀), again to describe the appearance of 'shrooms, although mushrooms are not technically considered to be a plant. Mushrooms are eukaryotic organisms, fungi, that actually share more characteristics with animals than with plants.
