「Motion of a long sword」to mean VICINITY, GENERAL AREA, LIMIT as in, perhaps, of the blade's reach to mean the vicinity, area limit, or reach of the sword as the authority of the local feudal lord. The related glyph, 'motions of an axe' (近) swung nearby denotes the more limited authority of the master of a household or neighborhood, and that serfs were more likely to possess an axe for chopping wood than a long sword. Note that「motion of a sword」means「vicinity」but 'motion of an axe' means 'nearby.' Swords are generally longer than axes, hence the area covered is wider.
「Motions of erection reaming no-longer-integrated feet」also performed from the SIDE of the sole of a foot, penetrating the EDGE, are LIMITED by the shaman and by the contract to only the VICINITY of the feet and no other orifices, and so on to describe the other listed meanings, as well as the related glyphs (see 邊, 邉, 边). The motions of an erection reaming a no-longer-integrated foot was therefore LIMITED and IN THE GENERAL VICINITY as it was explained in detail:「Qing Dynasty sex manuals listed 48 different ways of playing with women's bound [no-longer-integrated] feet.」

Always keep in mind that these glyphs most likely were originally designed by groups of clever old men as vulgar riddles for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that), representing Chinese society many thousands of years ago, but intended NOT as a written or spoken language when created. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system! Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is, and often with multiple correct answers to each riddle, the same as is true today. Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? But, have there been necessary rewrites and altered explanations of the original elemental meanings over the centuries?

No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else. This site describes glyph meanings, not people. These glyphs however, describe many and various things, including people, long before there were any notions of becoming politically incorrect. The question to be answered is, should these glyphs continue being used, by anyone, anywhere, for expressing language? (More...)
