Glyph elements  [ Toggle Font ]

Meanings of elements
REBUKE, SCOLD, CURSE, BLAME, REVILE with PENIS and FLESHPOT
…or: WORDS with PENIS NETTING and FLESHPOT
…or: SEXUAL INTERCOURSE FLAUNTED, SOLD AS A SERVICE, PENIS PURCHASING
…or: SPYING ON, PEEPING at PENIS GENTLEMAN with FLESHPOT, AIM of EMISSIONS
[Elements vary by font]「Sex sells (especially when selling sex), selling with sex, selling sexual intercourse」as it relates to READING these very glyphs. Right-center element was「copulation within orifice」(四, 讀), but now「netting, netted」has replaced it. Modern elements have been simplified to「penis bound on all sides while copulating」(読). Describes the sages getting together and discussing these glyphs by「flaunting」their own intelligence to first create each glyph, and then READING THE MIND of the creator, READING BETWEEN THE LINES so to speak and discern hidden meanings when the presentation took place in front of the other sages. INTERPRETING SIGNS AND SYMBOLS describes the process of figuring out what these glyphs mean by piecing together the elements comprising each glyph.
Also describes the shaman READING THE MIND and INTERPRETING SIGNS of her「reluctant service providers.」Scholars say this glyph means「speak to sell」perhaps formerly meaning to SPEAK ALOUD, as would a carnival barker, about what one was selling. The oldest meaning associated with the right element is「to show off, to flaunt」using elements of「netting penises for wealth.」When coupled with「oral foreplay, intercourse」elements indicate「showing off and flaunting oral foreplay and hind quarter squatting to snag more penis and get money for flesh-peddling pimps.」「Words for sale」to mean STUDY, ATTEND SCHOOL is a Chinese usage, one that was necessary to train young service providers.

External source definitions …excluding politically incorrect concepts and other meanings deemed offensive today; may include extended definitions, euphemisms, and mnemonics)
Chinese: to read; to study; reading of word (i.e. pronunciation), similar to 拼音; comma; phrase marked by pause
Japanese EDRDG: read, study, pronounce
Unihan extended: read, study; pronounce

Always keep in mind that these glyphs most likely were originally designed by groups of clever old men as vulgar riddles for their own entertainment (see 籒 for that), representing Chinese society many thousands of years ago, but intended NOT as a written or spoken language when created. If these glyphs had been intended for language use, the sages could not have possibly designed a worse system! Is it truly possible that all these glyphs started out as off-color jokes and puzzles? Yes! It is, and often with multiple correct answers to each riddle, the same as is true today. Sex had no shame in ancient China. Why would it? But, have there been necessary rewrites and altered explanations of the original elemental meanings over the centuries?

No one is suggesting these glyphs depict contemporary life in China, Japan, or anywhere else. This site describes glyph meanings, not people. These glyphs however, describe many and various things, including people, long before there were any notions of becoming politically incorrect. The question to be answered is, should these glyphs continue being used, by anyone, anywhere, for expressing language? (More...) Despite how seemingly bad our human existence is today, do you actually believe that the so-called good old days were any better? Or could they have been worse?

By the way, with a limited number of the same elements used by the sages again and again to form these glyphs, you should expect to find the same explanations again and again, as tedious as that may become, and as an inherent trait of any lexicon. This site explains multiple meanings of glyphs ignored or censored by other sources, generally as being too embarrassing to admit today.
