中国の啓蒙時代以前、足離合の効用に関するこの図案は、「女性の股間肉を両手のひらで同時に両側からほぐす」ことを指し（「齊、満、滿、满、兩、两、幵」を参照）、四つん這いの姿勢のときに手を置く位置（脊柱前弯位）、つまり臍が下側にあり、肘と膝が曲がっている位置を指していた可能性がある。
すべての人間が「体の一部」として「均一に」共通して持っている唯一のものは、へその緒です。上から下まで測ったときに真ん中にあるかどうかに関わらず、「肉との等距離」は、重大な交通事故に遭ったことのないほとんどの人間に当てはまる、中心に位置する仮想の垂直対称線上の点を表します。つまり、へそは一般に「肉の両側から等距離」にあります。
