Some suggest may refer to a child having TRUST that a parent will provide SUSTENANCE, NOURISHMENT.
　Modern fonts use「hand reaching down」to grab a「child」as if to inspire within the child feelings of TRUST for a parent who will always reach down to care for the child and pluck him or her from trouble when needed. Also used are「repeatedly dazzling a child」that may speak for itself, and,「repeatedly stuff flying out with spermatozoa」that describes male gametes ENCASING an EGG while attempting fertilization: the ancient Chinese possessed powerful magnifying devices, see 孑 for details.

　Perhaps,「meat maggot」literally as a maggot (a larva or 'child fly') ENCASED, feeding and NOURISHING itself…maggots (housefly「eggs」) feed by sucking juices emitted from putrid meat. Perhaps「hand reaching down」to grab some「maggots」in order to ENCASE and clean putrid flesh from a wound and TRUSTING that no other tissue will be consumed, known as maggot debridement therapy (MDT). Maggots eat rotting meat first and not healthy flesh, unless healthy meat is all that remains (see 享).
