Also refers to the older, SENIOR or CHIEF of any group, such as members of a harem who had been there with a LONG TIME of service, the ELDERS who trained and DEVELOPED the new members but were no longer summoned themselves to be with the lord. Old form of this glyph used「loose and dripping, talented hand」(镸) as the lower element, referring to autoerotically killing time perhaps for this reason, similar to another old variant (see 兏). ENHANCE those LONG TIMES of being idle, possibly depicting two middle fingers of a hand in action, normally the two with LONG LENGTH, the greatest reach. Other glyphs meaning 'idle' refer to autoerotic pastime activities. Comparing these elements to their antonym meaning 'a short time, brief' (短) the elements may become apparent, since both a「darting penis and clitoris」when juxtaposed or stimulated autoerotically generally result in climax within two or three minutes on average (a fairly wide range of times are possible, even as brief as 30 seconds or so. Individual results may vary), whereas stimulation while alone may require, or cause the desire of, a much LONGER experience (see 鼚) and confer longevity, long-life (see 寿) by avoiding riskier business as sexual activity in general, which has continued unabated for hundreds of millions of years, a LONG TIME, and to which all of us today owe our very existence.
　Compare this glyph to「bougie reaming」and「mauled chattel, ox, cattle」that uses elements of「one」within「pulled flesh to one side」(⺕, 彐, 丑), the people who did not live a long time.
　Alternatively as some insist,「vertical array of many horizontal lines」depicts the LONG terraces carved onto slopes as a method of farming to represent the mud, fecal slurry, and water standing in the paddies.「Mattock with repeatedly bent and bobbing」digging irrigation channels and terraces for growing crops in LONG rice paddies cut into the sides of slopes that SPANNED the vertical and lateral LENGTHS up and curving around the hill, and became the SENIOR, CHIEF farming method that EXCELLED and greatly improved the yield and size of rice and other crops roughly 6,000 years ago. Terraced slope farming methods are still in use today, a LONG TIME later.
　ELDERS, SENIORS are those who remain a LONG TIME. The CHIEF of a herd has the longest line of submitting females (「contained arrays of sitting persons with legs raised」), as is still true of many animal species today that maintain harems of females in a herd for copulation, moving from place to place to graze literally in very long lines.
